Materials FAQ
Do I pay for packing materials I don’t use?
No. Materials are charged in the quantities actually used on your move and itemized on the invoice — a count of boxes, rolls and bundles, at the prices listed on this page. Anything unused is not billed.
Is there a separate charge for packing labor?
No. Packing and unpacking are billed at the same hourly crew rate as the rest of your move — $99/hr for 2 movers, $149/hr for 3, $199/hr for 4. There is no second packing-labor rate on top of it.
Why aren’t boxes just included in the hourly rate?
Because "included materials" is how a low advertised rate gets padded. A studio might need eight boxes and a two-roll of tape; a four-bedroom house can burn through sixty boxes, four wardrobe boxes and a case of paper. Bundling that into everyone’s hourly rate means the small move subsidizes the big one. Charging by usage keeps the hourly rate honest for everybody.
Can I supply my own boxes?
Yes, and plenty of customers do. Pack what you want ahead of time or bring your own supplies, and we only charge for the materials our crew actually uses on move day.
What about custom crating for artwork or antiques?
Specialty and custom packing is quoted individually, since the materials and build time depend entirely on the piece. Tell us about the item on your quote call and we’ll price it in writing before your move.
